1,3-Dioxolane finds great utility in many formulation as a powerful aprotic solvent with low toxicity and low boiling point (76 °C) and an inhibitor in 1,1,1-trichloroethane. Similar to most ethylene glycol-based ethers, 1,3-dioxolane can dissolve many inorganic salts. The product finds great utility in metal working and electroplating as brightening additive (Ni & Cu) and increasing the effectiveness of mineral etching solutions.
