Dithizone, also known as Diphenylthiocarbazone, is used to measure the purity of pancreatic islet preparations for transplantation into humans with type 1 diabetes. It is a ligand that forms complexes with several metals including mercury and lead. Ungraded products supplied by LabChem are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
