The Chemglass (Part Number CG-1512-A-02) Apollo Single Neck Flask is a specialized laboratory vessel designed specifically for rotary evaporation applications where stability and sample recovery are prioritized. Unlike standard round-bottom or pear-shaped recovery flasks that require a cork ring or clamp to stand upright, the “Apollo” design features a unique, low-profile geometry with a flattened base that allows the flask to sit independently upright on a benchtop.
This flask has a working capacity of 50 mL and is equipped with a 14/20 Standard Taper Outer Joint, making it compatible with smaller, pilot-scale rotary evaporator vapor tubes or bump traps. A defining feature of the CG-1512 series is its Heavy Wall borosilicate glass construction. This reinforced wall thickness provides the structural integrity necessary to withstand high vacuum levels without the risk of implosion, a common danger with standard flat-bottom glassware.
The internal contour of the Apollo flask is engineered to reduce the risk of “bumping” or foam-over during evaporation. Its wide, accessible shape also makes it significantly easier to scrape out solid residues or viscous oils with a spatula or “policeman” compared to the narrow neck of a traditional pear-shaped flask.
